About
History Matters 365 was set up in December 2011 in order to provide links to quality, curriculum focused, online resources for Irish second-level history students and teachers.
This website is maintained by Christian O'Connor, a history teacher at St. Mary's Secondary School, Mallow, Co. Cork.
The site includes Leaving Cert resources and a blog. For Junior Cycle resources see juniorcyclehistory.ie.
History Matters 365 is predominantly a portal website, bringing external content together to form a repository of resources relevant to the teaching and learning of history in Irish second-level schools.
Fellow history educators are welcome to contribute resources to the site or make suggestions on how it can be improved. Contact can be made via @Hist_Matters on Twitter or the site contact page. History educators should consider contributing to #histedchatie, to share ideas, resources and promote fellowship. Also, teachers can subscribe to the teacher mailing list.
A blended approach to the teaching and learning of history is facilitated as content can be accessed, via the internet, inside and outside the classroom.
History Matters 365 began as a minor project by a teacher looking to explore the use of digital technology for educational purposes. Since 2011 the website has become one of the leading online educational resources for the teaching and learning of second level-history in Ireland.
I hope you find the website useful.
